For hundreds of years we have cherished our past, preserving monuments of history to be enjoyed by the next generation. As a result, we are a city brimming with character, architectural wonders and new and exciting developments that keep the city alive and thriving. Bath continues to attract people to live and work, whether they are looking for a commutable city outside London, or simply a place to call home. And in typical Bath style, we now have another splashingly good reason to invest here.
The private rental apartment market is strong; every day we help find people moving to or within the area a new place to live. With competition high for well-loved apartments, and exceptionally presented properties being rented at a premium, we often struggle to keep up with demand. There are many perceptions of the realities of continuing to invest in the buy to let market, but if you want the facts rather than the fiction, you need to come and talk to our team at The Apartment Company.
Spring will see the start of work restoring another of the city’s historical treasures, nearly 40 years after closing. In 1801, bathing nude in the river was prohibited, and the Roman Baths was suffering from overcrowding, but people needed a place to swim. Financed by public subscription, Cleveland Pools was opened in 1817 next to the River Avon. In the 1970s, outdoor swimming here was the heart of the community, but by the mid-80s things were not so positive; the pool was closed down and became a trout farm.
“The main thing people remember when they talk about the Pools is that it was a place of fun. It was the place to be seen. Everyone was hanging out, posing on the grass, it wasn't just about swimming but a place to just be and socialise,” states Anna Baker, Project Director, The Cleveland Pools Trust. Now, thanks to being awarded £4.7 million by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, this once favourite pastime will return, and you too could be swimming within its pools next summer.
Up and down the country lidos are returning to public use for those living within its locality to enjoy, and becoming an important part of the community again. Having a wealth of amenities that enhance your lifestyle we know is what keeps bringing people to this wonderful city, and also why many find it impossible to leave.
